Few people are aware of the concept of monetization of their channels on YouTube, which many dream of. Same was the case when I began my channel, I initially had the same purpose too. To put it in personal context, like many of you, I used to think, “Is it possible to get monetised quickly?” The answer is yes, actually, but they did not get it by chance. In this particular article, I will explain to you in detail how I was able to get monetized with just a single video. No tricks. It is not a complicated plan or one that requires any radical ideas that cannot be understood easily by an ordinary person.
What Does "Monetised" Mean?
Monetisation implies obtaining revenue from users through advertisements, select parts of the content, and premium features like discussed scripts. When your channel is monetised, it means that you will not have to worry about buying the goods and services you want to show in your videos because you will be paid for those videos. Surveys reveal that YouTube channels that are monetised are more appreciated, get more traffic and obtain more subscribers. YouTube runs ads on your content and you get paid each time people view or click on the ads.
To get monetised, you need:
- 1,000 subscribers
- 12,000 hours of watch time in the past year.
It may sound like huge target, but there is nothing impossible if you do the right things.
My Background: Through the use of social media platforms, the report suggests using emojis and emoticons, so it is wise to include more of them; this will also help the social media coordinator see the kind of face the company's online image needs to avoid misrepresenting the organization.
I didn’t even have a DSLR. Super fancy lighting was nonexistent. I just had a smartphone and an idea. I had no editing experience. Now as most beginners, all of my knowledge was started from scratch. So if you feel you need expensive gear, let me talk you out of that right now. You don’t.
Step 1: Finding the Right Topic
One day, when surfing the internet, I saw a trending issue that many people were discussing but very few had explained well. That’s when I realized – this is it. I chose to make a video on that topic.
Here’s what I did:
- Researched the topic in detail
- Wrote down a simple script
- Practised speaking a few times
- To keep it natural, shot the video in one take.
Step 2: Keeping It Real and Simple
People love honesty. My speech was exactly as if I were speaking to a friend in a video-format. No acting. No over-the-top editing. I made it simple, clear and to the point. This allowed viewers to connect with me quickly. I believe that this was among the main reasons someone would keep watching until the end.
Step 3: Optimising the Video
Now this part is important. After uploading the video, I:
- Titled it in an interesting, keyword-heavy way
- Used a personal made by me with bold text as the thumbnail and my face.
- I wrote a description using keywords that people might use for searching.
- Added relevant tags
These actions made my video to be seen on YouTube searches and suggestions.
Step 4: Sharing on Social Media
I posted the video on:
- WhatsApp groups
- Facebook pages and groups
- Reddit forums (where the said topic was being discussed)
- Instagram story and reel
Even, I asked a couple of friends and relatives to view and to share as well. The idea was to make the initial push small.
Step 5: Engaging with Viewers
Once comments began to come in, I answered every one of them. I enjoyed the comments and made viewers feel as if they had been heard. It rallied more people to participate. Engagement is what YouTube algorithm adores.
The Result: Monetised in 26 Days
Yes, you read that right. After 26 days, my channel reached both of those milestones:
1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of WT.viewers. All from that one video.
No luck involved. Nothing complicated; just real effort.
Lessons I Learned
- Trending topics matter: If your topic is hot and people seek it, the probabilities improve.
- Be yourself: Human beings dignify raw, authentic content instead of neat content.
- Promotion is key: Don’t just upload and wait. Share it actively.
- SEO matters: Searching for videos on social media is usually done in the search tab, discovered through keyword interruptions on the screen, or a recommendation shown by friends. This is why it is essential that the title, description, and tags of a video are written properly and professionally, so that potential users can easily find it and draw viewers in more accurately.
- Consistency after success: After the first video, there would be more videos of mine following it, to maintain the momentum.
Final Thoughts
Monetizing with one video is possible. I can do it if you can. Starting is the most important thing. Don’t wait for ideal condition or proper idea. Play the cards you’re dealt and always be truthful, as well as hardworking.
